Shouldn't be a problem. I shoot some old 2 inch from my Mossy Moderated pumper when needing to kill varmints in a live cage trap.
I'm not aware of any shotguns with 3" chambers that can't fire 2 3/4" shells. I've owned a lot of shotguns over the years and some of them had thousands and thousands of rounds fired out of them (skeet, trap, and mostly sporting clays). None of them suffered in any way. In fact, the manufacturers specifically state that they will shoot both lengths. The only caution I've ever seen is shooting 3" in a 2 3/4" chamber.

Not a problem at all.
I fired tens of thousands of 2 1/2 inch .410 in a couple of firearms chambered for 3".

410's are dear enough to buy without having them laying about,
Old Webly & Scott is a bolt gun and keeps spitting the extractor out
when ejecting the cartridge, so I got the Boito s/barrel hammer gun.

FYI almost all modern long guns chambered in 410 have 3" chambers, as far as I know there is no such thing as 2- 3/4 410 cartridges, standard 410's are 2-1/2 unlike the larger gauges. In Neville's neck of the woods there in Great Britain that's probably not true, they have different ammunition there, don't know about Queensland.
I have quite a few 410's and they're great little guns, the ammunition not so much, there's a huge difference in how well different loads from different manufacturers pattern at skeet and small game distances.
For instance you wouldn't think that number 5's would pattern well in a 410 however the Remington 3" magnum load is one of the best placing nearly all the shot in a nice 16" circle at 25 yards that nothing could escape.

Hi KB, As in last post, only use it for SNAKES, We get them inside.
Last was Eastern brown about 5/6 feet.
I got him out side and let the 12g talk to him. Would have despatched 23 ( last count )
in last 2 years. Thats why I NEED THE 410.
Only do clays with 12gauge.

23 five to six foot snakes inside the house over two years? I find that.....I don't know what I find that but it's horrifying to someone that might look for days outside just to find one little harmless garter snake!
You don't need a 410, you need to somehow snake proof your house.

Or a couple geese. Geese are hard on snakes and fun to watch kill them. Our neighbor kept geese just for that reason. Buzz worms (western diamond backs) were particularly thick on their ranch, as an aside I killed over 100 on ours one year. I had a Velveeta cheese box full of rattles. Mostly I used a Stevens 20 gauge or whatever was handy. I killed a few with my belt. I like big heavy brass buckles
I can't imagine having browns!!

From what I understand from my Australian friends, brown snakes are not nice creatures to have about. During my time in Texas I normally carried a single twenty with me if just on a walk.
I was planning a 14 inch T/C Encore handgun in 410 for the same job . We mainly have 2 1/2 and 3 inch shells for 410s over here in the UK. The old 2 inch shells I have are ideal for close quarter combat on rats and live trap vermin but I am not sure they are still available. Not too worried because a 3 inch will do the same job.

No, not 23x 5-6 foot. 23 total over 2 years.
Last one was 5/6 foot. The bloke before I bought it was a hoarder,
had [email protected]#T everywhere and it just bred rats and that brings snakes.
Pretty much got them ( rats/snakes ) cleaned out now.
Last one was only about 18 inches long. You'd be surprised how small a gap a snake can get thru.
Haven't seen one that likes the 12/410 yet.
Haven't had a rat in 6mths and only 1 snake this year. touch wood ( hand on head )
Got 4 acres about 6 kls from small mining village, can shoot plenty, no worries.
