Will nickel plated cases help with extraction problem on a NEF 223 single shot? Even at modest velocities, the spring ejector fails to kick out a fired brass case, and I am thinking that there might be less adhesion with the harder nickel.

Factory cases extract OK, but are a bit undersized to start with. I can go to a small base die, but this will hurt accuracy.

The chamber on the NEI's is often pretty rough.

Try drilling out the primer pocket on a fired case, and inserting an easyout. aMOunt the assembly in a drill. A film of polishing compound, or RemClean will take the roughest spots out without any major alteration of chamber dimensions.
