I'm repeating a post I saw over at the firing line. Does anyone have any load spec's for the .358 250 grain LFN GC bullet out of a 38 Special or 357 rifle? I would not expect this load to cycle through the action but it should work single shot, I hope. I have worked with very light loads of Bullseye and 158 grain soft cast bullets before in 38 Special rifles and they were unbelievably quiet. Since this bullet is almost a hundred grains heavier it should give these 400 to 600 fps loads alot more power with very little increase in noise.  Just the thing for raccoons in the trash can at 2 am or 15 yard shots at uninvited guests around my hen house.

Lee, I've given it a whirl in days gone by... 1.5g Bullseye did the trick.  Yep, very quiet.   Very interesting keyhole effect at 40 feet!   Those long .35's didn't stabilize worth a hoot out of the little .357 carbine at those velocities!  Doable, but pointless (no pun intended), as the bullets hit sideways!

Nice thought though!

I may load up a few just to hear the report, but appreciate knowing ahead of time that they won't stabilize. Oh well back to the drawing board.

Be careful with that "Sir" stuff!  It should be reserved for those with experience and age behind them!  Don't make me something I'm not!:biggrin:

Lee f, you might want to try a 36cal round ball (OOOBuck) and 2gr or less Bullseye. Put a daub of lube around the edge of the bullet. In the 6-800fps range. You can plink in your garage with these with appropriate backstop.
