Is it possible to convert a .270 Win case to 30-06 simply by necking the case up and trimming it down in length?

Hi:
Welcome to the forum. Yes, you can do it, with a tapered expander ball (Hornady for example) and a good case lube.

Also be sure to check case length when you are done. .270's start out a little longer than '06 but expanding the neck will shorten it a little.

I guess I'm bass-ackwards - I always used to grab good '06 brass and neck it down to .270! Judicious case lube is required - not too much when resizing. A good strong O-frame press solidly mounted helps too.
