The old 8x68S with a 200gr bullet betters that (3,000 ft/sec).

It is one of the strange paths that German cartridges took. The parent case (6,5x68 Schuler) was only necked up for an 8mm (.324" indicated by the "S" designation) bullet and skipped the 7mm and 7,82mm inbetween bullet sizes.

I suppose a 7x68 mm will equal the performance that you envisage.

 

The 8x68 RWS brass can be used to form .300 PRC brass.

Check private message box! This virgin brass is way too hard to form, without annealing their neck/shoulders. But with Imp. die wax, I did neck it down in a Rem. 7mm SAUM die, off of Flea Bay. 7mm Wea. seems a better way to go, or even a 7mm x 300 Win. Mag., made up with a plus fifty thousandths neck length. Blowing out, trimmed, 300 H&H cases will get er done. Cases from H&H belted brass are still centered, but bulge out to their belt's diameter to make DIY Ruger cases, but the belts do keep things centered in the chamber. You do lose the belt's head spacing and need to make sure of a crush fit at the shoulders.

 

Aaron Hipp has the 7mm-300 PRC . Pushes a 180 grain bullet to nearly 3300.

 

6.5 mm Schuler is the child of the original 8mm Schuler. It proved to have too short of a neck.
The 7mm x 300 PRC case will show the same thing! My short 7 x 300 RCM cat is a 284 Win. Without the drama of rebated rims, and too sharp shoulders. My short cats have too short necks, with their 26 deg. Shoulders. My finish reamer cuts a 6mm chamber, so I stuck with Newton’s 250 Savage designed 26 degree ones!

 

Well I decided to rename it, and the bullet isnt seated right. I just tapped it in there for the pic. .300 PRC brass with a .284" . The 7mm CVOK. Cana Virginia Over Kill
