Hi All,
I am new to this reloading thing.
Wondering if anyone has worked up a load for these combinations: -
30-30 WIN, 150gr Remington CoreLokIt, ADI AR2206H powder (i.e. H4895) for Marlin 336C 20" barrel

and

30-30 WIN, 160gr Hornady FTX, ADI AR2206H powder (i.e. H4895) for Marlin 336C 20" barrel.:)

howdy, philguru. if you asked if any handloaders use imr4895 you would get pages of replies, since in the states ADI ar2206h is labeled h4895 or imr 4895. years ago i loaded up some 150 grain loads for a marlin336 in 30-30, with imr4895. i don't want to say how much of the powder i used, it was more than recommended. 4985 works like a charm in 30-30.

Philguru,

Since nobody else has done so, yet, let me say: Welcome to ShootersForum!

As one of our founding members often told new guys, "Rules are simple, be nice and join in."

From the Hornady website:

http://www.hornady.com/assets/files/ftx_load_data/30-30_win_ftx.pdf

NOTE: H4895 and IMR4895 are not the same powder and should not be used interchangeably. This is reflected in the load notes from Hornady.

Between these two bullets, I would definitely go with the FTX. They may not give you a lot more range or energy, but since you're handloading them anyway, I think it's worth the extra cost for the plastic-tipped wonders. :)

philguru, when i loaded imr 4895 in 30-30, i was in a different mindset and trying to hotrod the round. i worked up several grains over the max recommended load. i have since specialized my rifles, and no longer load to the highest pressures. that being said i do load 30-30 to the max recommended load of h322, (not sure what ADI designator is) 29.4 grains with 170 grain FN bullet. i got this load from the Sierra manual.

There's a gent on another forum that recommended "about" 30.2 to 30.5gr of IMR-4895 with the Rem 150 CoreLokt. Many others on that forum tried it and also reported excellent accuracy in their Marlin 336 rifles. In my loads H-4895 is just a fuzz faster burning than IMR-4895 so I would start at 30gr. These loads are well below max for a 150gr bullet.

Do you guys down under measure powder in "grains" or "grams"?
