Took my new Ruger #1 in 300 Weatherby to the range today for the first time.
While waiting for it I put together some loads for the barrel break-in ritual, and to zero the scope.
All I can say is WOW. What a sweetheart.
Blast and recoil aren't any greater than my lightweight .30-06 (thanks to the 26" bbl), and with some load development it looks like it'll do under MOA. I could shoot this baby all day.

Now to plan that moose hunt.

I sincerely hope you enjoy your Ruger #1 .300 Wby.  I haven't had a #1 for years and am about to rectify that problem this afternoon if it is still on the dealer's rack.  As for the .300 Wby, try H1000 powder.  My Mark V's most accurate load is the 165 gr X bullet (hard to believe) with Remington brass, Fed 215 primers and as much H-1000 as can be crammed in the case (90.5 grains).  Best of luck with your rifle.  Ed
