I almost have my new bench done. I am a new handloader and will begin working my first 30-06 loads in the next couple of weeks. I won't be doing anything with the 300 WSM until I get the hang of it but I am going ahead and getting the brass when I can.

What would you say is "average" case life for the 300 WSM (i.e. how many loads per case)? I know, there are a lot of variables but I will be working up hunting loads at moderate to slightly more than moderate pressures.

If you neck size with something like the Lee collet die, and don't go crazy with the pressures case life can be 10-20+ loadings. If you full length size it could be 3-6+ loadings. Due to all the variables its hard to put any real numbers out.

I agree with bsn. I have loaded at least 8 times with my Winchester brass. The Lee Collet die just can't be beat. I have a friend who has a Hornady full length dies. He says he can only get abou 6 loads. One important thing about using a collet die though. Use only brass that has been shot out of your rifle. Virgin brass is OK as long as you shoot it out of your rifle and begin it's cycle.
Good luck.

Thanks for the tip. I have two boxes of the Federal soft points that I am using to break-in and the basic sighting in for my Savage Model 14. The rifle shoots great but I am a little concerned the bullets are going to explode at that velocity so I am not going to use them for hunting. I am going to use the brass and right now I am thinking of loading Accubonds or Partitions.
