I have had good results loading 170gr GC cast bullets for my .308s using Varget, about 10 grs. below the listed max for 168 gr MHPs. Gives very mild recoil in my Savage Scout, and sub-moa accuracy in my 700 Varmint. Similar technique should work for hunting loads. Good hunting.
