Howdy! Iv'e read this forum for a while now and thought I would post a question. Does any one have any information thoughts comments on building a 348-444 in a lever action rifle i.e. marlin 336. could it be done? Would it fit? Ackleys manual lists a 30-444 and a 35-444 but the picture shows spitzer bullets loaded long. The balistics wouldn't be outstanding But for a lever rifle sould be more than adequate. The plan would be to use both cast and jacketed bullets. Plus it would be a very unique rifle. Any thoughts opions and references Would be greatly appriecated.

mrred, what you are proposing is within .010" of the semi-retired, or whatever, 356Winchester or 358 Winchester. The 348bullet makes it unique, but also an expensive firearm to reload for. Read custom dies and chamber reamer. If you just have to have it, it's only your wallet being hurt.
Ballistics-wise, there's no need for it. Performance would be hampered by the caliber and lack of bullet selection. It's your decision.
