I am wondering what rifles are being made currently in the 35 whelen.

The local gun shop has a Ruger Hawkeye in 35 Whelen on the wall, $660 for a new Ruger. Remington also sells the 750 semi-auto in the Whelen. It comes in rifle and carbine versions. They go for $650-$750 depending on the dealer.

If you're looking for a Whelen, your best bet would be to buy a Marlin XL-7 for $250-$300 and rebarrel it. You'd still spend less money than the Ruger and You'll have a gun that was built how you want it.

Thompson Center Encore or Pro Hunter is available in 35 Whelen. Also have the option of a custom barrel from Match Grade Machine or Bergara. Mississippi's primitive weapons season allows single shot rifles in 35 cal. or larger. Whole lot of Encores in 35 Whelen in Ms. now.

A short time before then, MS allowed the .45-70 and lots of folks ran out to buy them, too. Then they dropped it to .35cal and larger as long as it was a single shot rifle with an exposed hammer so now everybody thinks that the .35 Whelen is the only .35cal bullet ever made ;) So, you can find deals on .45-70 there, too. :)
