I may have asked this a year ago but have lost most of my inquiry responses, so please bear with me.  Is it possible to rebarrel a Winchester or Marlin 444 to JD Jones wildcat - .358 JDJ (358X444 Imprv)?  I see that EA Brown is offering rebarreling of the Win 94 to 375X444 but thought that would be to long for that action.  Any thoughts most welcomed.....RW

Ravenwolf, I see no reason this wouldn't work on either the Marlin or Winchester that was originally chambered for the 444. Keep in mind the OAL of the cartridge and the safe operating pressures of the rifles. They say the Winchester big bore is good to a little over 50,000 cup and the Marlin in the mid 40's. In my opinion the Marlin is every bit as strong as the Winchester as Iv'e ran my 400 Yukon up in the low 50's with never a hint of trouble, but this is with my rifle so i wouldn't advise anyone else to do it!
