375 Ruger?

An friend has a 375 Ruger that he has shot maybe 30 rounds through. Mauser action. I have a Model 70 375 H&H that, quite frankly, I don't shoot that much anymore but this guy is thinking about $400 and it is well finished, no problems, nice stock, etc, probably 99%.

I've noticed that there are quite a few 375 Rugers on internet sites just sitting there getting no bids....nothing! Anyone have any experience with this round? Good? Bad? If it were a 300 WM or 338 WM I'd snap it up.

The real man would just buy a .378 Wby hehe
I once shot a Weatherby .378 WM & it's recoil was worse than from the .460 WM.
Matchbox99, I was not referring to opening day! It is when the friggin airlines lose your luggage and you end up in JO-Berg with NO AMMO!!! Then again it could be the Cape, you out looking for something that is supposed to be there and is not. I know of a man who took his .300 WSM to Africa and then found out there was no ammo for the rifle. No body had any .300 WSM according to his PH. So he was stuck borrowing a rifle for his plains game hunt.
Unless you're talking about two different bullets being fired, this would be a wonder of modern ballistics!
That's exactly what it is. ;)

Notice, I said, "Weatherby factory ammo ballistics with 300 gr. bullets".

They load the .375 Wby with the 300 gr. Partition with a B.C. that whoops up on the .378 Wby 300 gr. offerings.

It's not new math. It's old physics. :D
The .378 can push a 300gr to 3000fps. While super impressive, thats probably enough to make me flinch...lol The .375's reloading data says 2700fps for a 300gr. Thats a hefty jump in speed.

With 6000ft/lbs of ME, that's some pretty big shoes for the .375 to try and fill. I think of those two guns, as identicle twins, and one just ate more as a child :)
Actually, it's not hard to get 2800 fps from a 300 grainer in the .375 Roy. All it takes is some AA-4350 and a 26" barrel. ;)

No way to push 6000 ft/lbs in the .375, though. That's strictly .378 territory.

If they lose your luggage, they also lose your rifle... point not made, try again. We have some members here who are from that area and have expressed no difficulty in finding ammunition down there.

No fair doing the old apples n' oranges thing! ;)

I'm just sayin'........................

Take it up with Roy's boys, I guess. They're the ones who loaded apples in one round and oranges in the other. :D
I knew it! They aren't using powder at all! Apparently they've managed to extremely compress Applesauce and Orange Marmalade into propellants! Brilliant!
True that!!

He's also the same guy that realizes very soon that he won't shoot much unless he has oil wells or he reloads.

The person who buys a .375 Wby. can walk out of that store with that box of H&H and still have a darned fine big game hammer..............and a piece .375 Weatherby brass every time he pulls the trigger. :D

Yes, I thought of having a 375 Ackley made for that reason. I know at least one of the versions will shoot 375H&H, 375Wea, & the AI, would be kinda neat.
I think the 375 Rigby's are sitting around because the 375 H&H feeds better; tapered more.
