Well I tried some 1680 under Barnes 220gr flat points for velocity out of my 20" M-94 BB XTR yesterday. I loaded 36, 37 and 38.5 grns. Here is what I got. 36gr = 2123fps, 2113, and 2143. With 37gr I got 2123,2133 and 2143fps. That was a pretty consistant load I thought. 38.5 gr gave 2175,2185 and 2218fps the Av. was 2182 for that load. The number were just what I expected from the loading manual which used a 24" barrel. So if I can devlope an accurate load at 2200fps I think I will be happy. I had hoped for more, but out of a 20" barrel I just am not sure. Is anyone doing better?

Does anyone have any 255 Barnes load data with AA1680 powder?

Actually Barnes and accurate don't have any loads for the 255 gr Barnes and 1680 combo.

That's an interesting suggestion. I am using 1680 because of Marshalls suggestions. 1680 produces very low pressures and high velocities in this round. I will call about the other powders. Thanks.

Good news from Hornady. In their new manual they list loads with 1680. 41+ gr of 1680 for 2300fps.

Just got my reply from Accurate Powders on the 1680 + 255 gr Barnes combo. They say that 35 or so grains of 1680 should give 2100 - 2150 fps from a 20" barrel!!! That sounds good to me. Now I just need to go load some up and put it over the chrono.
