I have seen some 350 grain slugs for the 375 Winchester on Auction Arms, but can't think of a rational reason to buy them, and Tim Sundles says he can't think of a rational load for them, so I may pass.

Anyone know anything about loading the 375 Winny with superheavy weight bullets?

Sorry I'm no help, but if you don't get a response here you may try www.sixgunner.com Paco Kelly has some articles on it and John Taffin is said to be a fan of it as well. Off the top of my head I would think you would have some problems with OAL of the loaded case and/or case capacity due to having to deep seat the bullets.

if the bullets that you seen are from dan at the bullshop he has data to go with the bullets and does produce some fine bullets that shoot great. Im using some of his bullets in the rcbs 250gc that actually weigh 264gr over 37.5 gr of h335 in my marlin and am getting 1850fps and 1.25 in 5 shot groups at 100yds.

Been following the black-powder-steel-critter-shooters and there are a group of them trying to get the .38's to work...which would included longer/heavier/more pointed cast bullets in this bore size. Been ahving some luck with the idea, but will have to see the results of a couple of years shooting to be sure.

Believe the .375W would spin bullets of a reasonable flat nose/round nose shape of that weight. Would have to use up a good bit of case volume to have them work in a repeater (the BP shooters are single shot users who can throat the barrel a bit long, seat the bullets out, and retain powder volume).

Can't get heavy weights to work in my 38/55 Lever, but that's expected as the twist rate is a bit slow for anything over 280-300gr. (actually it's the length...but weight is an easier term).

The heaviest bullets I've used in the 375 Win are the 300gr from Mt Baldy. These have about the widest nose of any flat point bullet I've ever seen. It's been a while since I shot them and I don't recall the load but they were some serious thumpers. Even the light loads pushed back on the butt stock pretty hard. I believe these would be suitable for anything on this continent within 50 yd. Don't recall seeing anything as heavy as you mention before but I'd have to agree that case capacity would start getting shy. Loaded in 38-55 cases in a single shot might help that situation some.

Do you have any loads for the 270 gr Hornadys, or other similar weight bullets.

I would like to get a heavier load for my 94, but haven't found much data for anything larger than 235.

try a starting load of 35 gr of h335 and go up from there. Im shooting 37.5 with 264gr cast fpgc bullets. getting 1825fps and am not that near max. paco has some 300 gr data on sixgunner.com. Dan who has the 350 gr bullets has data for the marlin and winchesters as well as the single shots and has used them all. has other weights and data as well. www.midrivers.com~bullshop will get his sight or email.

I've never loaded this bullet before. Most of my loads have been 220, 250 and 260, plus the 300's. These latter loads ranged from 28.0 - 29.5gr Re7. I didn't chrony them but like I said, they are hammers. They could probably be pushed a little harder but I stopped there because they are sized a little on the large side, left over from some 38-55 experiments I was doing a while back. Regarding recoil and the 300gr Mt Baldy's, when I shot the 29.5gr loads I had just bought my Marlin GG and I'd have to say that felt recoil from the 20" 375 was about as heavy as stiff 300gr JHPs in the GG.

375Win reloads

I believe that the 350gr is to heavy for the 375Win.And I have handloaded for it for years.I believe the 260gr Barnes X at 2100fps is the max weight for the 375win .Any heavier than that and velocity and energy drop off to much.

I agree that the 250-260 gr range is optimal for this cartridge. And your's at 2100fps would be a pretty good thump. But that big 300gr flat nose, at close range would be bad news for anything that walks this continent. Maybe not ideal in everybody's mind, but serious all the same. As for 350gr I think case capacity would suffer. Even with the 250 it's pretty tight, thus the use of 38-55 brass in some of my loads.

This is a highly underated cartridge that should be way more popular than it is.
