Hello, I have an old 39a/97 Marlin. I got it on my 12th birthday(1975). I have always wondered why it had a 39A barrel but the action was marked Model 97. Has anyone encounterd this before? My guess is that the original barrel was worn out or got damaged so they fixed a 39 to the action. Both the barrel and action have the same coloring/wear. The barrel does not have micro-grove rifling. I want to do a few things for this old gun of mine, namely get a new magazine feed tube assembly, new forestock and a peep site. Also the ejector needs some attention. Your advice is much appreciated.
