Hello All.

I am new to the forum and see there are a lot of people on here with good info. I am starting into reloading and trying to be as safe as possible, Reading books, internet, Ect. I own a few reloading books but have yet to find a recipe and OAL for my bullet and powder. Anybody experienced with .40?

I don't see any Bullseye loads for the 180 grain bullet in the .40 Smith & Wesson.
Taffin lists 175 Grain bull-X lead semi-wadcutter as giving 980 FPS. with 5 Grains
of Bullseye. Don't take my word for loads check Taffin on line or one of the other
guys. Loads are everywhere.

Welcome to the forum. Rules are to join in, have fun, and play nicely with the rest of us kids.

5 grains should be an OK full house load at that weight if the bullet isn't pushed too far into the case. It works in 9 mm with 115 grain fmj's and in the .45 ACP with 230 grain FMJ's. It's a quantity of energy about at hardball levels. If in doubt, start at 4.5 grains and work up.

I'd be surprised if you had functional problems at that load level? Accuracy is another matter. Typically a self-loading gun needs to be worked on to achieve match accuracy, assuming the design is good for that purpose. I don't know what your objectives are in that regard?

Hodgdon's Titegroup is my favorite with 4.2 gr. It's accurate in my Sig and functions flawlessly. Another good powder is HS-6. I like it because it's versatile enough to use with all my favorite pistol reloads like
9mm, 40 and 45 acp. Good luck.

I use Bullseye on both my 40 S&W and 45ACP. Lymans's 48th has a recipe, but I can't remember it off the top of my head.
