This is for Mike G. Guess its a good thing iam going to the base next month
for an eye exam, (migh have to go from bi-focals to tri's). Been through every-
thing here and still cant find a shot shell load for my 41 mag. Ifin you happen
to run across it again, point my guide dog to it so I can find it.

Gun Runner, here's my recipe for shotshells in my S&W 57, 6" bbl.

I use #10 shot. Large Pistol Primers. 8 grs. Unique.

First. I sharpen the inside mouth of a .41 Mag cartridge case. Then I use regular poster cardboard, and pound the case through the cardboard, making wads. (No, you ain't a'gonna use that case for reloading, again&#33<!--emo&--><img src="http://beartoothbullets.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''><!--endemo-->

I prime a case, put in the 8 grs. of Unique, then carefully put one of the wads just snugly over the powder. Then, fill the case nearly to the top with the # 10 shot. Put the other wad over it and lightly crimp over the wad.

Then, I take regular Elmer's White Glue, and seal over the crimped wad. Let set for 24 hours and you can carry them in a cartridge belt without fearing the shot will roll out while walking, etc.

You can use .410 gas checks if you have them, instead of the paper wads. I don't have any.

Works great in my .41, giving a tight pattern with good rattlesnake killing power out to 10 or twelve feet.

I thought that I had read a post on shot loads for the .41 mag but could not find it either.  It must have been for a different caliber - who knows.

Looks like we have a recipe and that's what counts.

The Quinn boys over at gunblast have a recipe for snake shot loads in a 357.  Adjusting the appropriate components for the 41 should give likeable results.  Something to think about anyway.

A number of years ago, 25, I did some tinkering with shot loads for the 45 Colt. I used the side walls of stryrofoam cups for wads, a bit of heavy duty plastic bag as shot cup and the heavy base of the stryrofoam cup as over the shot wad then graduated to using card board with white glue.
Made the prettiest donut shaped pattern. Conbine this donut shaped pattern and with my inaccuracy with shot guns, there would be little or no value to me.
I settled on using two 45 caliber muzzle loading balls in the 45 Colt case, for my multiple projectile loading.

What are your roundball loads?  I just got a box of .454 round balls and have been itching to try in my .45 Bisley (Ruger).  Singles, doubles, whatever you've come up with.

I'd like to use Bullseye, if possible.

I took the round ball load out of George Nonte's book on hand loading.
I used Unique, 5 or 6 grains, after priming. Put a ball in the case to just about flush, didn't want the seating stim to crush the case mouth, pushed a bit lower with wood dowel, wiped bullet lube around the case mouth, started the second ball until over 50% of the ball was below the case mouth, wiped the case mouth with lube again, then used a tight crimp.
Nonte used a stab crimp to hold his top ball in place.
These were good for only ten yards for any real accuracy, but they were fun to play with.
