Any body got any recipes for 410 brass shotshells? #4 or #6 shot for squirrels, maybe some buckshot for other stuff? Got a box of Magtech brass hulls that use LP primers. I appreciate any help or advice.

Thought Id post an update on my 410 project. Seems like 8.5 to 9 grains of Universal under a plastic wad with 3/4 oz of #6 shot with a little parafin wax on top is going to work pretty well. Havent shot it on paper yet but have taken about a dozen starlings with it today from 15 to 25 yards.

For what I know on reloading 410 .All you need to do is just change the shot size or just put buckshoot in. That is with out changing powder amout.I do that with my reg 410 shells and have good luck. If you check a reloading Manual like lyman you put the same amout of what ever size shot in it to come out to the same weight of shot nomatter it is. Hope this help if not PM me

My problem was figuring out which powder and how much of it to use with what amount of shot. Ended up just using loads similar to a 45 LC. Seemed to work pretty well.

Any body know where to find 00 or 000 buckshot?

sizes

Just now saw this thread.
The biggest problem to deal with when reloading .410 brass hulls is undersized components. The inside measurement of a Magtech hull is about 0.457". The gas seal on a WAA41 wad is 0.403 -.410". That is a substantial difference. The powder will go off but the pressure won't be there - not proper pressure in any case.
It is important that one use properly sized wads for optimum performance.
If your shells are working, Ya done good.

You can also buy a mould for round balls and cast your own buckshot, LEE has them, I have a mould for both 0, 00 and a .690 RB for the 12 Ga, I also have a RB mould that works for the 20 Ga I think it is the 58 cal. BP mould, also thinking about getting them for 000 and 0000.
