Just tried to use the Hornady FTX in my 94. Turns out I can not shove the bullet far enough down the case so that the platic tip will clear the magazine tube. It hags up and will not allow the feed ramp to lift the cartidge for loading in the chamber. Did I miss some thing here, is this old news for 94 owners. Do the Malins have a larger space to allow the plastic tip to feed.

I have some of these loaded for my Timber rifle but have not shot them. I am playing with the .35 caliber bullets in the 356 first.
Hornady suggests shortening the case trim to length to 2.065” Vs 2.215”.
The maximum case length for use with the FTX bullet is 2.075”
The COAL for the FTX bullet is 2.590”

Thanks for the info. When you shrotened your cases did it cause any issues with a compressed load. That seems like a lot of length to trim. The laod I was going to use was 47gr.of H4198. I also have two Pumas one in 45lc and 454 and purchased the ftx for them. Now I'm wondering if length will be an issue also.

Hornady lists 41.9 grains of IMR 4198 as a maximum load with the FTX bullet.
Case capacity is the issue. Hornady reports 2,200 fps from a 24" barrel.
