Im in search for a good load for a 16 inch barreled lever gun. Do you have any suggestions or any recomendations on bullets or powders to start with?

What will you be using it for? I use 9-10 gr unique with a 240 gr SWC for plink & putter, even good for short range hunting.

For the highest velocity from a rifle, a slower powder such as H110, W296 or 2400 will do best. Fast burning pistol powders such as unique will work but their power curve is too short for the longer barrel. Any bullet your barrel will stabilize will work. I have found that 250-270 gr bullets work best out of my 18 inch Marlin 44 mag carbine.
