Thanks Mike
It was for a Ruger Vaquero. I'm just looking for a safe range to load for. I'm really looking to use up some componets that I have from other projects & want to use them up. This is mostly just for punching paper & seeing what it does.

Results 300 WFN with 2400 powder.

Mike G
I shot the 300WFN with 2400 powder the other day it worked out pretty well. I'm not posting the load as it is not a listed load data. The velocity was pretty good & no signs of pressure.
I can't vouch for the grouping, but I put the blame on me for that. I have not yet got used to shooting the Ruger Vaquero. I don't seem to shoot any load well with that gun yet.Just wanted to let you know that the trip to the range went realatively well.

MIke
I didn't save the velocity on my chronograph. I rememeber it was better than I expected. I was loading 15.5,16.0,16.5 of 2400 with 300 gr WFN bullet. I shot them in both my Contender barrel & Ruger Vaquero. 16.5 gr shot very nice in the Contender barrel which I tend to shoot better. That's what leads me to believe that it was my shooting with the Vaquero, not the load
I will oad up some more & chronograph them again so I can give you a final report.

OK for those interested out there this is what I've come up with for 2400 With 300 Grain WFN & Fed 150 primers out of my Ruger Vaquero 4 5/8 Barrel.

16.0 grains 2400 ave fps 944
16.5 grains 24oo ave fps 957 Grouped better

Recoil wasn't bad. Primers showed starting to flatten  with 16.5. Cases did not show any sign of sticking in cylinder. Could probably go to 17.0 with out problems, I would go up slowly from 16.5 maybe 2/10 of a grain at a time. The temp 32 F

I also tried 300gr WFN with AA XMP 5744 with 18.0 grains with CCI 350 primer gave good groups with 970's Fps ave. Cases did not stick. Very pleasant to shoot. May try increasing the load & see what I get.

To anyone who might be interested in 2400 with the 300 grain WFN in a Ruger

I ran 17.0- 2400 for 1007FPS ave Fed 150 primers looked Good. No sticking in cylinder

I also ran 17.5 -2400 for 1069FPS ave Fed 150 primers  looked good. No sticking in cylinder.

I would like to go further but I'm out of 2400 & 300 WFN are running low.
I will have to get more supplies to test it further, but I was having a good time with the 17.5 grain load, groups didn't look to bad either.I am becoming more comfortable with the Vaquero
