In the heirarchy of revolver strength where does the Colt Anaconda fit in?
I'm guessing that it's stronger then the S&W's but not as strong as the Ruger Redhawk
Anybody care to venture an opinion?

Jim,

Most "in the know" state that the Anaconda will handle 30,000 CUP loads without a problem. They were and are very heavy duty guns.

You are correct in your opinion. The Anaconda is stronger than the Smith but not as strong as the Ruger. It is close to the Redhawk but not all the way. It has the long cylinder like the Redhawk which makes it very useful over the Smith but the overall strength is not quite up to the Ruger.

Thank you both for the info.
What I'm doing is working up some loads that are mid range for a 454. My buddy has the big .454 that just beats the fire out of him. I put six rounds through it and decided that was all of that sort of fun I needed.
I think the Anaconda will deliver all the fire and thunder that I want and give him a starting place for target shooting with his cannon.
That darned pistol, the .454, should have wheels and a crew to feed it.

Now that you mention it, my .454 Casull does kinda look like a miniature version of the 16 inch guns on the USS Missouri when it goes off in low-light.

If someone comes up with a good strong lever action for the .454 I'm getting one. I can't imagine a better East coast woods caliber.

I will second you on that point I think a .454 rifle would be a welcome addition to any firearms line.
