anyone have any idea on how to figure pressure for 45 Colt handloads? i am loading for use in a TC Encore with a 24" barrel with a suppressor. standard seems to be 14,000 psi for revolvers but if i want to load heavier cast bullets how do i keep the pressure under 20,000 psi?

All the powder suppliers have ruger/tc specific data available. Check the website of the supplier/manufacturer for data for whatever powder you have on hand.

I believe the T/C can take the Ruger only loads but not exactly sure. I always think in terms of Unique and you would be right around 20k with about 10 grains and a 255 SWC. Alliant list 9.5 as max for 255 grain SWC for SAAMI spec of 14k psi. There are a number of 20k psi loads listed on Load Data but it is a pay site. I am a member so if you have a specific bullet/powder I'll check it out for you.

the reason i wish to keep the pressure under 20,000 psi is i will be using a suppressor. i prefer the heavier bullets 265 and up. i have some speer 250 and 300 and sierra 300,also some hard cast 300 and 345 from beartooth that i hope to use.

www.hodgdon.com has some loads in their load data. Pressures are listed as well. I've loaded some 300gr cast bullets using Tightgroup but couldn't begin to tell you what the pressure is. Real pleasant to shoot though.
