Can anyone with experience help direct me with a starting load for a 45 Raptor bolt action build, subsonic, with a lead cast bullet weighing 650 grains? This will be my first subsonic build and am looking for a starting point for a load. There's information out there about the 45-70 with a 600 grain bullet which should be very similar to the 45 Raptor. The Raptor is about .200" shorter in overall length. It looks like Trail Boss or Unique are the most popular loads. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

That is going to be a thumper 650 grn subs , nice.
Trail boss is easy just don’t compress it.
It is the shape that makes it do what it does , compressing it changes that by breaking the doughnut shapes .
It a fast burning powder .
Loads go from not enough to push the projectiles out the end of the barrel to max load being were the base of the bullet sits.
Might not be the quietest powder to use because it is fast burning.
But it is a great way to start with something new.
Ring the powder companies and get a suggestion from them, that is what I would do trying to get the quietest powder.

Cheers .
