I just bought a box of the 300 grain FTX to load for my 500 mag, but am getting some conflicting data on how much powder to use. I am using Lil' Gun. On the Hornady site, it shows a range from 40.1 to 49 grains of powder. In the Lyman book, it does not list that bullet, but a 325 grain bullet maxes out at 40 grains of powder. I am a little weary going by the Hornady chart now after seeing that.

Has anyone out there loaded rounds with this bullet yet? If so, what do you recomend?

If the Hornady site shows loads for Li'l Gun and their exact FTX bullet, you can't get much more reliable data than that. For what it's worth QL seems to agree with 40 to 49gr, with the load being compressed somewhere around 46gr. I would be especially cautious as you get up around 46-47 grains, depending on your seating depth.
