I have some CBP 525gr bulets for the 50 Alaskan. I want to try them in the 500 Linebaugh (they just fit). Was anyone played with something this heavy, and have a starting load to try?

HI,

I was just thing the same thing. I have a 50 AK and will be getting a 50-110 in a win86. I am thinking of gettin g a 500 linabaugh.I would use a 525 grain bullet fron CPA and according to MR. Clay I would be able to get it to shoot the 500 linebaugh, one shot for sure maybe more. The point is I would load the 500 with the 525 and will be able to use the same ammo out of the 50-110. So I hope someone may have loading data on the 500L with a 525 grain bullet. I know the fps would be low if it can be done. Thanks,Kev

Hey fellas,
Can't say as I've seen the 525 loaded in the Linebaugh, but there's a load on Beartooth's LoadSwap page for the 480 gr.

Mr. Linebaugh ran a penetration test using a 490 gr at 1270 fps in his last year.  Penetration was 51".  I'm not sure what his load was, but I'm sure he'd tell you if you asked.
