Was just down at my loading bench finishing some 6.5-284 loads and then moved on to my 6mmAI. It occured to that necking up the 6mmAI to 6.5 would be about the same cartridge. My load for the 6.5-284 was 50.8 grs H-4831sc and my load for the 6mmAI was 50.2 grs H4831sc. Seems the going up to 6.5 should give a fuller case than in the 284 case. Enough difference to make another wildcat probably not but would different than the other guys anyway. Your thoughts?:)

What case is the 6mmAI based on? Is it a standard 6mm Remingtion that's been AI'd? This would be the 7x57 case that has been AI'd.

I have a 6.5x257 AI = 6.5-7x57AI. Can't say the case capacity anywhere near equals my 6mm/284.

No the case capacity is not equal to the 284 case but I'm only using .6 grs less powder in the 6mmAI case so was thinking it would be more efficent and could be made to feed better out of a magazine. The answer to your question is yes it is a 6mm rem case. What kind of velcitys are you gettingm out of the 6.5/2257AI and what kind of accuracy.

Right at 3K of velocity with the 129 gr Hornady SST. Accuracy is MOA some days, a little over on others. These from a customized Swede M38 with a 26.5" fluted bbl.
