I came across an ammo can full of this ammunition. All in 20 ct boxes, and no signs of moisture. Does anyone have an idea of its makeup. Bullet weight, powder charge, etc. I have a Savage Model 10 FP in .308 that I shoot alot thru out the year at evreything from wood chucks to steel plates. Would this round be suited for my rifle and its use?

168 grain boattail hollow points specifically made for national match competition. You should be able to get a year of manufacture off the box or ammo can. Yes it will shoot thru your savage. enjoy.

Here's the spec's I found on it.

M852 Match 385 gr (24.95 g) 2.83 in (71.88 mm) IMR 4895 168 gr (10.89 g) Hollow point 50,000 psi (3,515 kg/cm²) 2,550 fps (777 mps)

Very good cartridge, as stated 168gr BTHP for match shooting. Was never intended for combat use (M118 and M118LR which uses a 173gr FMJ/BTHP). Bullet is good for match shooting out to 600yds. At 800yds bullet is subsonic. Designed for the M14/M21 and M24 rifles.
