One of the local stores has a nice 722 Remington in .222. The stock isn't nice.
I happen to have a very nice stock off a short action 700 BDL. Would it be much of a job to put my nice one on the old 722?

Close - but I think the M700BDL bottom metal inletting might be too big for the 722's.

If the seller's amenable - why not settle on a price, contingent on a decent fit, and take the BDL stock with you for a trail fit-before-you-pay ?

It oughtta take only 5mins, with a screwdriver, to settle the question.

Yup; The bottom metal is inletted deeper on the BDL. Also the recoil lug of the 722 is larger.
I think I'll look at an ADL stock just for the heck of it.
