The other day I was cruising the net and ran across diagrams for the Winchester '73. The drawings showed the difference between the different models...at least I think it was for the different models. The first models had sort of a point at one end of the side dust cover plate on the receiver while a later model had more of a rounded end. A later model had sort of a notch or step at the front of the receiver. There was also something about the screw for the cover that was at the top of the receiver.
