I have been told that it is possible to convert a Reminton 742 auto loader to a 7600 pump action.This is acctually the second time I have heard that this is possible.It seams kind of crazy to me that this can be done,but I am not a gunsmith.Has anyone heard of this being done or know if this is possible?

There used to be a number of outfits that did the conversion some years ago. I don't know how many are still offering the service.

The 742 chews up it's own interior and eventually stops working. The conversion was a way to salvage them.

Amen to that sion! Especially if your rifle likes the heavier bullets.

Remington did a redesign of the locking lugs and the 7400 doesn't have that problem.
