.338 Win Mag necked up to 9.3mm (.366). Anyone have one, use one, have reamers for one? Looks to be a fun project, like the 9.3x64 but the bolt face and rail work would be out of my realm. Seems a current bolt action in a Magnum caliber would be an easy rebarrel and chamber.

Easy is right but WHY? The .358 Norma fill that niche....that not many want, judging by the success of that great caliber. (It wasl killed stone dead by the .338Win.)

Sounds like a fun project and a neat caliber. I still can't shoot my 9.3 since my surgery...but looking forward to it.

An interesting idea. Can the OP give some stats as to how much more powder a 9.3/.338 could use/hold over a 9.3x62? I've owned both "parents" in very similar rifles; 9.3x62 in a CZ550 Carbine with 20.5" barrel and a .338WM in a Sako 85 with 20.5" barrel.

Shooting typical 225gr loads in the .338WM it's a pussycat. Shooting standard 285/286gr in the CZ had more felt recoil to my shoulder.

Those 9.3mm 285/286gr bullets are pretty long projectiles and might? intrude too far into the 338 case, preventing the capacity desired to push that weight to much faster than the original.

Perhaps the 250gr Barnes might be a good "tweener" bullet. I have some 9.3x62 loads rated at 2650 that the 338's case could likely better.

So, a donor 7mag, .300mag or 338mag rifle could then be bored to 9.3 to create the new cartridge??

Sorry, simply pondering out loud and as typical lots of my pondering is useless drivel....lol 🙄
