Hi Guys,
I am looking at updating my stock for my .308 98 Mauser. I have had a look at the Archangel AA98 and the GRS Bifrost. I am hoping someone on here has experience with either or both of these stocks. Some of the questions I have are:

Archangel:
1) I am not familiar with magazine as I have all breach load rifles. The magazine specs say suitable for 7mm / 8mm / .30-06. Does anyone know if this is hard and fast spec or will this work for a .308 round?


Bifrost:
1) It is more expensive than the Archangel with no magazine option. Is the price worth what looks like a very comfortable stock to use?

Both:
Is bedding required for either of these stocks?

1) magazine able to use short action cartridges:. Long action magazines *can* always do short action cartridges.... If course they can be a feeding mess, just depends on the springs. Not a real hard and fast answer, regardless of the brand or model.

2) Worth it. That is an individuals preference word. For example, I bought an American, put it in a chassis, put a real trigger in it, smoothed the action and cocking mechanism. Fundamentally it's now a Ruger RPR, but wasn't cheaper and couldn't be bought at a store. Was it "worth it"? To me yes, to many many others, No.

3) Bedding. Being or not being required, depends. Just like every Boyd's laminate I've bought. On paper, they should be pillar or glass bedded. I don't need them, and they shoot far better than the average Joe and his hunting rifle can.

Buy what you are more interested in, and start playing with it; it's part of the job of firearms, no one wants paint by numbers and staying indoors.
