I recently bought a CZ (Brno) 98 mauser. A man had about 25 -30 guns for sale with most being very over priced. He told me themauser was shot out, which it was. The stock was broken in two places. He said I could have it for $75 which I quickly agreed to. I stripped it down to the action, which is in incredible shape. No rust on the bottom metal and I am pleased to say the least. I'm an avid reloaded, currently up to 79 different calibers. But my knowledge of these actions is very limited. I would like to have a long range rifle, by which I mean out to say 700 yards. I'm not a hunter just an avid shooter and I like accurate rifles, and who doesn't. My question is about the best caliber for this action given what I would like to do. First, I love the 6.5 creedmore, but I don't know if this shorter cartridge is right for a long action. Second, should I sell the action and get a different one given the parameters I've given? Accuracy is my goal but I cannot afford say an accuracy international rifle. Any help would be appreciated and I know some of you have faced this before.
