A freind is in a bind and has offered to sell me a almost brand new 9mm High point with 40rds of ammunition, For $90 Is this a good deal or are these guns ****? A little info and some advice.

He paid 200 for it at a gun show last year so I think 90 bucks isn't a bad price. How reliable are these and I know you have to be 21 to buy ammo, but I turn 21 this december and don't plan on shooting it alot until then. My final question is since its a rifle do I have to be 21 or can I buy it anyway. I've been told since it fires hand gun ammo I have to be 21 because its an "assualt" rifle. A local sport shop owner told me I can buy any rifle no matter what (given if its a Class III I need a special permit) and that any rifle can be used to "assault" somebody as long as your 18 or older in Iowa so I'm thinkin he is right. Any input?

Gunblast did an test on the 9mm carbine . Go check it out. I haven't had any problem with mine and it is actually quite accurate. I have mine sighted in at 50 yards. Yes you can buy any legal long gun at the age of 18 no matter the caliber. Nothing fancy about the gun , but it is fun to shoot. I don't see how you can go wrong at $90. Good Luck !

Great deal, jump on it (don't tell your friend, but he paid too much for it)! The 9mm is the best of the Hi Point "lot" IMO. Like others have said, not fancy, but reliable by most accounts including mine.

The Hi-Point rifles are simple and surprisingly reliable, given the reputation of the handguns. Frankly the ergonomics are better too.... my opinion.

Since they are a simple blowback there isn't much that can go wrong. I'd say for $90 what the heck.... and yes, I've shot them.

Then I am deffinatly going to bring that one home then, it comes with about 40rds so I can shoot it a little before I have to buy more ammo, and that will be a little while, at least until december that is. Thanks for the info guys.
