Spotted an ad for 140 factory rounds of PPU 150 grn 30/30 ammo so wnt to pick it up today, just an hours drive away.
He also had 50 ( he said) Federal150 grn 30/30 if I wanted them. Of course I did, they are my favorite facory rounds in that caliber.
Ended up with 213 rounds for the UK equivalent of $108.
I mean I can't reload them for that kind of money.

Won't have to reload for a bit and I'll have some real good brass.

Great find @drone "cheap" ammo is always a plus especially when it's the good stuff.

Might be? Do you mean because of the plastic boxes?
There really is no way to be certain. A commercial ammunition manufacturer is just a mechanized high-volume loader with a source of custom packaging.
I have noticed that some retail outlets have "No Returns On Ammunition" signs. I am not aware of the reason.

No eddie, they're just old, about 2012 issue. The federals are even older but that's OK as I have 22savage ammo from the 1950s that still goes bang and groups ok for me.

The cartridges to the left are factory loads I already owned, top one is a Winchester round, note the crimp, the lower one is a Federal round with 170 grn bullet.
On the right is a selection of the loose ammo I bought, top is a Winchester silvertip, again note the crimp and the three lower were randomly picked from the case they are now in, they are Federal 150 grn loads.
I looked at a selection through my loupe prior to paying and I saw now evidence of any resize, but you be the judge of the case necks.
The federal in the middle looks really manky but that's ok it'll clean up when I've prepped them after firing.
I hope that clears up any doubts you may have.

@drone judging by your excellent pictures this is all factory ammo. Fired and reloaded ammo has sharper features left by both the chamber and dies. I wouldn't have any worries about shooting this batch.

Eddie, those red federal cartridge holders I've had for so long I forget when I got them. I tend to write in sharpie the bullet and loadon the side, but I can't get the sharpie off so I now use stick on address labels but sometimes they drop off.
I like to mark each individual cartridge with the load and bullet.
I noticed the question mark on your earlier post which is why I didn't get over stroppy.

Mike only 2 of the win silvertips were in the assortment I got.
Had a bit of range time today, used up nearly half of the PPU ammo, the gun likes it but I don't as it isn't as accurate as the cast boolits I shoot and only a few hundred fps faster and they are so much noisier.
Here's an image of the first group I shot, unusually for me it's 5 shots.

Couple of pointers, don't carry those frangible targets folded in your butt pocket, aim point was at the centre red dot from prone.
It's kind of peculiar that the rifle is shooting low with this faster ammo also to the right my usual 168 grain gc cast boolit shoots almost diametrically opposite ie high and to the left.
I'm not going to alter the scope, as I have about 600 of those cast boolits lined up ready to load and, as the scope is offset to the left, it prints exactly where I want it at the 50 yards I zero at.
I'll run a bunch of the Federals through next range day.
