I am not sure if I am being fair. I'd like your opinion.

When I got into lever guns, I tried tang mounted aperture sights and frankly did not like them. They are in the wrong location for a repeater, IMO.

The I bought aluminum receiver sights from a well known sight manufacturer. I had very bad luck with these aluminum sights. When hunting I am not as careful regarding bumping etc. The aluminum sights became like little flags flopping in the wind. I have sold these sights to people who I believe wanted parts. The only rifle I have not replaced with older steel sights is on a rifle that I use for targets and fun shooting. I paid dearly for those older steel sights and am happy that they now reside on my rifles. My question is two fold: Which sight do you prefer and if it is aluminum why?
