I'm thinking about trying a pound of IMR-4320 for .308win and 30-30. Supposedly it meters a touch better than 4895?

I doesn't seem too slow for either .308 or 30-30, judging from the burn rate chart, it falls between Varget and W-748 (which I know works well in both of my applications).

Anybody tried 4320 with 150gr or heavier bullets in these two calibers?

Yup. It's a very good choice for either, and for the 7-30 Waters as well. IMR4320 is one of several old and largely overlooked powders that will still get the job done in yeomanlike fashion. The fact that they still devote valuable production time to it is evidence that it still sells and is still worthy to be bought.

It has small kernels that flow well, ignites with standard primers and seems to have no ugly surprises in pressure buildup.

I don't have the load details handy right now, but it's what I've use in my dad's .243 Winchester loads for the last 20 years or so. Never had any trouble with it, even though a lot of guys like a slower powder in that case.

I will have to look back later, but I believe I used IMR 4320 for Hornady RN 180 gr in my 30.06. It was a prefered powder for that bullets in one of the manuals for the velocity I was looking for. I did not do a lot of load development for it but did get a deer with the combo that year.
