Is there anyone else out there that felt compelled to load up and put a bullet in Punxsutawney Phil? Saw the furball on the annual let's-drag-this-critter-out-of-his-hole-and-make-a-spectacle-of-ourselves on the Weather Channel. Looked like an easy target to me. My trigger finger started twitching. :)

By the way .. he did not see his shadow. Forecast is for an early spring.

Happy Groundhog Day

I'd LOVE to see him up here in Michigan. We just got over a blizzard this morning. Yeah, I'd LOVE to see him here. Right on my meat platter.

No Hornet but a 221 Fireball or 223 Rem both work really well. The Ballistic Tips make a mess out of whistle pigs. Got one two years ago, shooting position was off-hand down on one knee about 90 yards out. All I could see was the top of his head and that didn't stay with him for very long. An outstanding exhibition of marksmanship even if I do say so myself. :)

Hey - he didn't see his shadow, so spring is on the way for you Eastern folk!

Looked at the blacktailed jackrabbit's ears blowing in the 35 mph wind and 35 deg temp this morning and decided winter has finally arrived here in the Upper Sonoran Desert! :D

Must be bad - our power went out right at breakfast time, so the wife and I were forced to visit Starbucks to get breakfast muffins and coffee this morning! :p

Yup - typo.

Just found out the local power company was having trouble holding the load at two power plants way up in the northern part of the state so they just dumped us off the line so they could ease the strain. Weird though - people right across the street had power while all of us on this side and east to the county line got dumped. Next time, we'll be interested to see if those on the other side get the same treatment.

So sick of the "hype" around that every year too.

What I always marvel at is the Formal attire of the handlers.

Love it when one of them gets bit.

I think Bloomberg got bit last year.!:D

Punxsutawney Phil isn't to well know down here in the south as most folks don't even know what a groundhog is. While on a recent RV camping trip, a large group of us were sitting around the campfire visiting. I made the statement that it would be alright with me if that Large Purple Lizard, Barney would step on a land mine so I wouldn't have to watch him with my grandsons. There was a lot of laughter but it seemed to be more directed at another couple instead of me. I soon learned that the guy who plays Barney was the son of one of the couples camping with us. Pardon me while I disappear and get another cup of coffee.............

Small world ain't it...

....have put many "Phil's" down in the course of my life, and have eaten many as well. Ol' Phil seems like a pretty good joe....its best to keep "one" around anyway...as long as he stays up in PA. Around here, groundhogs burrow into levies...destroy them, and, when the high water comes in the spring...well, you can imagine!

Heck if Phil has the good TASTE to bite Bloomberg I would keep him around for a while. Hope he didn't get sick afterward.
