I brought this at a gunsmiths estate auction. It was marked barrel jig. It has bearings that allow a barrel to be turned around freely. I just cant figure out if it has a usefull purpose. thanks c

They are barrel spinners to be used with polishing wheels. One for long tubes and one for pistols. A must for a smith that does hot bluing after rebbling a gun with a new tube. The bbl is spun and poiished to the proper grit before installing in the action. Also used to spin 22s after removal from the alloy rec to hot blue; most times the rec gets a bake on finish and reinstalled.
