As I'm waiting for the u-know-what to hit the fan, is it OK to leave my clips loaded and ready? Or will that ruin the springs? How long can you leave them loaded? What parts for my AR should I purchase as replacements (just in case)?

Parts- Complete bolt, spring kit for the lower. and maybe a barrel and barrel wrench, mag springs and followers.

And as for the mags I would load half of them or a few and rotate them every couple weeks. I only keep one 20 round loaded near the bed in m y DPMS 308. Loaded with 110 grain vmax at 3000 fps. to ruin anyones night.

I wouldn't worry about leaving the magazines loaded. I typically leave my magazines for rifle and pistol loaded. They tend to stay loaded for anywhere from a couple months to a couple years. So far I have not had any problems.

Mag springs loose there tension as they are worked. Compress them more and often ie use and they wear faster. Leave them loades as long as you want. Still have a 20 rd mag loaded in the safe for the last 15 years. Come back here in another 15 and I'll report how that 1970 vintage USGI mag worked. For AR parts a spare bolt and gas rings.
