Arsenal Molds

Bought an Arsenal brass mold a while back. 210 grain Keith style .41 caliber. No matter what I did the failure rate ran about 70% and I finally contacted the manufacture. (bullets wrinkled and mold not filling. It sort of worked around 800 degrees.) They asked me to send it back and I did. 2 months go by and I get it back holding 4 soft lead bullets. No note, no comments. I assume they thought they were demonstrating its efficacy. None of the bullets were completely filled out in the driving band, and here is a photo of my favorite one. I get much better results from inexpensive Lee molds on a regular basis. If anyone in the Laramie Wyoming area wants it, it is yours for free. PM me.

Try reading this thread for some sympathetic information and ideas on using brass molds, especially post #6. You are not alone, but not everyone has the same problem. Smoking brass or developing a patina (a surface oxide layer) appears to help.

yeah, I bought it impulsively and didn’t know anything about brass as a mold material. Since the manufacturer doesn’t seem to be able to make it work either I’d just as soon get shed of it. Thanks for the info though.
