Excellent article. I have been a .300 Winchester Magnum fan since I was 17 (27 years now, but who is counting). I have owned several makes and models. My current .300 Win Mag is a Winchester M70 Classic w/BOSS. It is a tack driver and simply lightning on our whitetails here in Michigan. Those who call it overkill for whitetails have never hunted Michigan's heavily hunted public lands and had deer taken away by a shooter over the next ridge because the deer didn't realize it was dead right away. I have also shot a nice black bear with my first 300 Win Mag (a Ruger M77). It went down so fast, I had to do a double take to make sure I had hit it. Thanks for sharing your hunt and your experiences with a great cartridge. Of those you listed, I am partial to the Ruger model. Take care. Dan
