Hello all, I just picked up a beautiful Austin and Halleck 420 rifle that is currently configured to use percussion caps . Does anyone know of a source for a conversion breech plug for a 209 primer. Any experience or opinions on the performance of this gun using percussion caps would also be appreciated. This is my first black powder firearm so any advice will be welcome, thanks, daV.

Personally I would use the #11 caps. I always like to keep the rifle as designed. But I am sure if you find a kit it will shoot well.

I got a conversion kit from Precison Rifle for my A&H 420. http://www.prbullet.com/ah.htm I haven't tried it yet - my rifle shoots quite well with percussion caps and 777, but if I ever try Blackhorn 209 I'll probably need it. I wanted to buy a kit while I still could, whether I use it or not, and I'm quite pleased with the quality of the kit I received.
