I have used one that works through an excel like program on my Droid2 and it works really well. I did download an actual Droid app but didn't like it as much as this other program. I can't remember the name but if you look at longrangehunting forum and do a search there has been discussion over there concerning them.

"let fly" is a ballistics calculator app. it costs .99 cents and it comes programmed with tons of factory cartridges and you can customize your own handload with bc, velocity and weight. You can adjust everything like barometric pressure, temperature, wind and much more. A very good calculator for .99 cents. i am not dissapointed

Varminter,

Does that program work with G7 BC's, or is it limited to the usual G1 BC's? If the latter, does it allow for multiple BC's with different velocity break points?

uncle nick

you can select from g1 g2 g5 g6 g7 g8

Im not sure what you mean by multiple bc's with different break points. you can customize your cartridge with different bullets and customize the bc's for said bullet. so you can have like three .223 cartridges for example each with a different mv, bullet weight, bc and so on. Now i'm sure that is not what your asking. If you mean different velocity break points as in at different velocity's you can adjust the bc for that velocity, so you might have three slightly different bc's at different velocitys for the same shot... the answer is no.. this program is most likely not as advanced as you would like it unclenick.. it is pretty basic and user friendly. not to say your not user friendly..LOL.. but it is also accurate and versitile.

Thanks.

The G1 ballistic coefficient curves don't match modern bullet shape drag functions very well, so one way to fix that is to adjust it at different speeds to get a better curve fit. For example, Sierra provides match bullet BC's this way. For example, the BC (G1 is the SAAMI standard) for the 175 grain MatchKing is given as:

.505 @ 2800 fps and above
.496 between 2800 and 1800 fps
.485 @ 1800 fps and below

It was entry of that data I wondered about. If the program accepts G7 BC's, though, I don't really need it. G7 matches most boattail match bullets well enough that one number is good enough.
