I bought a bent bolt section for my M44, took the original bolt apart and inserted the bent bolt section. However, when I reassembled it and inserted it into the rifle, the bolt would not close. Will a section like that change the head space that much so it will not close, or is there another answer?

When I took the bent bolt section out and reassembled the original part, it worked just fine. I have measured the bent bolt and compared it to the straight bolt section and they seem to be the same. If I can't get it to work, it looks as if I have spent $35 for a paper weight!!

Hopefully someone has a good answer for me so I can use it.

I would look at the new bolt handle and compare the rear section of it to the orginal handle where the firing pin and cocking parts go together. See if anything is misaligned or rubbing. Look at the bolt head with the new handle on and see if the extractor is being pushed or bent somehow. The extractor is a common cause of bolt problems with this rifle.
