Kimber, Kimber, Kimber for the money. A little more than Springfield and a lot less money than Wilson, STI or Baer. There are way too many makers to list them all. If you have the opportunity take down the Kimber and compare to others on the INSIDE. You will find tooling marks on the inside of most but not in the Kimber. Fit and finish are second to none, and half the cost of the high end pistols.
Maybe you should actually look at the STI's before you condemn them. Their Spartan model retails under $700, and the Lawman is just over $1200. Those are very reasonable prices considering the quality you get.
