Would appreciate any and all suggestions and opinions anyone might have as to the most appropriate factory 6.5 Creedmoor ammunition for bench rest shooting using a Sako TRG 22. Thanks in advance.

There are no shortcuts. You'll have to try different brands and bullet style/weights until you find the one that particular firearm digests best.

One of the beauties of handloading - easy to make up a few cartridges with various brands of propellant/bullet/weight/standoff from lands for the ideal combination.

The only factory ammo company of any size, that uses canister grade powder, was Nosler; and even they didn't load a weight of powder. So don't be like the bozos who pull and apart, weigh the powder and stare at it to magically Devine what it is:rolleyes:

Factories charge cases by powder volume, and swap out powders constantly, so what was in lot 1 may be completely different from lot 2.

Much the same with canister grade powder, even if the name stays the same the powder can easily be changed silently. Hodgdon is quite famous in fact for buying whatever is cheaply available in a burning range, and calling it whatever they like. IMR 4064 has long been a General Dynamics powder out of Quebec. Except for two years ago, when Hodgdon was buying the 1# bottles from them, but the 8# kegs were from Rhinematall in Europe. Digging into Ramshot powders, they've all been quietly switching to General Dynamics powders over the past year-ish, and even their online data is not up to date....

Can't paint by numbers, and get anywhere.

Cheers

IME, Sako rifles tend to shoot a lot of various ammos well. Mine both shoot MOA or close to with off the shelf cheap hunting ammo. Both like the Remington corelokt 150gr. Which is great at $14 a box or so. Mine are both in .308win.

You’ll just have to buy a bunch of various ammo, sight in for one and then just shoot them all into groups and sight up for the best one!

If you’re reloading you’re going to spend much more time finding the perfect combo for your rifle but it’s worth it.

Don't know about how the Sako will shoot but I have had great luck with Hornady American Gunner 140 BTHPs in two 6.5s in our house and have seen it perform well in other folks rifles at the range too. Plus its pretty reasonable for 50 rounds.
