Take a look at Butler Creek's slings. The neoprene is non-slip and is kinda bouncy. Takes some of the jolt out carrying for an all day hike. I've got a couple. One that stays on the Sendero SFII in 300RUM and one that goes between what ever else.

Personal preference ones are the best, I bet, when it comes to slings. I usually go for a cobra shaped leather, with a little padding up around the shoulder, and I usually try to stay in the $20 to $35 maximum price range. More important for me are the (Uncle Mike's?) swivel connectors - the ones that you unscrew and then are spring loaded and swing out of the way to quickly detach.
I do have a black nylon or neoprene Butler Creek on my 30-06, and it works just fine. I just prefer a semi-simple leather, for aesthetic reasons more than anything I suppose.

I prefer and buy the older Remington slings that went on their 700 series rifles. Usually discarded for a fancier sling, these extremely simple, easy to operate and adjust are my favorites. But I do have a tendancy to go to extreme places and have many times had to fully extend the sling so I could get the rifle to go over one shoulder and under the opposite shoulder. Thia allows ultamite gun control while climbing cliffs, crossing rivers ect where you need both hands free. The large padded slings I have had experence with dont lend themselves to such carry. Plus I use my sling wrapped around my forearm for extra stability for offhand shots again somethind padded shoulder slings dont do well.

I don't have favorite slings but do have basic requirements for my slings. Sling swivels need fabrication from metal not plastic. Never had any problems with non-locking metal swivels but usually opt for this feature. Narrow width slings are uncomfortable carrying rifles for extended periods so opt for widest possible. I use slings mostly for carry so extra length is not necessary and in some instances is a hinderance. Black webbing or tanned leather is fine for color. Camo slings do nothing that I can determine. Several times when carrying a particular heavy rifle the cobra type slings have been a life saver in comfort.
I don't shoot off hand because I'm such a poor shot in that position. In thirty years of deer hunting I've shot one deer off hand and that was last year. Knew I hit it but couldn't find it in the unharvested corn field. Renter found it during harvest with his corn head.

The answer to your question is simple....it depends. If I want a sling that is used to keep my rifle in place when over my shoulder The Claw sling is by far the best I have ever used. In fact, I won't use anything else when that is my purpose. If you want a sling that will be used to help you brace for off-hand shots then I would use the old military style leather. The neoprene models just don't seem durable to me and the nylon types are too slick. Just my opinion.

Not familiar with the Outdoor Connection 2+ sling. Looked at their website and it looks remarkably like the Latigo sling sold by Brownell's. However Latigos are leather and the Outdoor Connection sling is not. Also I see no mention of using the Outdoor Connection sling as an aid to shooting which is the purpose of the Latigo besides being used as a carry strap. I guess you need to specify your intended use. As an aid to shooting the military sling is probably the best but takes some time and knowledge to get it set and used properly. The Latigo is almost as good and is easier to use at least for me, especially in a hunting situation. The big drawback to the neoprene and the cobra style straps is they are not generally useable as a shooting sling. If all you are using it for is a carry strap the padded cobra style and the neoprene straps can be more comfortable. I use either the Latigo or a sling I believe came with a Yugo SKS that I modified with QD swivels. That sling is an 11/2" wide cloth that can be used as a "hasty" sling. If you are not using a sling as a shooting aid I believe you are missing out and their use is not restricted to offhand shooting although that is where you will see the most benefit.
I have a cobra shaped nylon/neoprene made by Allen. It stays on my shoulder without slipping and is adjusted loose enough I can carry the rifle between me and the ground when sneaking. The quick detach swivels seem to always squeak or chirp some, a little Imperial die wax cures that.

I am partial to the neoprene type slings. They are soft on the shoulder and do not slip off the shoulder when carried. I usually buy the ones that have the four bullet loops on them. When I unload my rifle at the end of the day I have a place to store the ammo. When you get ready to hunt again, your ammo is available on your sling.

Safari sling, available thru Cabelas, carries in a ready position. Takes a little getting used to. Very little movement to get into firing position. Great for stalks or to and from stands. I take my slings off when I`m in the stand( my climbing stands have a rail around them). For lock on stands or others with no rail, you dont have to hold onto gun all day, just lays in your lap and raise to fire.

OK, let me throw a clinker into the sling mix.
Back aways. used to use a wide leather sling when I was hunting open country where the rifle spent much time in the shoulder just being carried. But be'in an Ol'Coot with shoulders and arms that don't like to have things carried by hand, long term, and now hunting much closer cover with the need for a quickly ready rifle. I needed to look for better options.
Gave a rifle to my son because of weight and the others were still a problem.
ANSWER, the Safari or Boonie sling which is a front, across the body sling.
This has solved almost all the carry/weight problems, and is EXTREEMLY fast to put the rifle into action.
I have used this sling for close to 10 years, and only use the typical over the shoulder type for short carry situations.

Went to Gander Mountain today.... they had a very nice selection (Outdoor Connection 2+, Butler Creek, Claw, etc.)
I ended up taking Riflefan's advice and buying the Claw sling. I didn't like the idea that the swivels are not metal, but they claim they are "stronger" than steel. My logic behind the purchase was that the polymer/plastic swivels will not squeak while in the field. I also talked to one of the employees and he said he really liked his because it would not slip at all. I will basically be using the sling just to transport my firearm in and out of the woods - not a whole lot of walking. I will be using shooting sticks, so I'm not really worried about using the sling as a rest.

Military leather sling preferably with several owners before me, great for offhand shots easily adjusted for carrying, supple with just a hint of Hoppe's number 9.
The padded slings I have tried always seem to bulky, and a little awkward when using them to stabilize offhand shots. Or maybe its just that the gun I learned to shoot with had a military leather sling?
